Loss given default is the share of an exposure that a lender expects to lose if the borrower defaults, after recoveries from collateral and other sources.
What the value tells you
A higher LGD means less is recovered after default; good collateral and strong recovery lower LGD.
Explained
LGD = 1 − recovery rate. A 60% LGD means that if default happens, 60% of the balance is lost and 40% is recovered.

LGD = १ − असुली दर। ६०% LGD भनेको डिफल्ट भएमा बक्यौताको ६०% नोक्सानी र ४०% असुल हुने अनुमान हो।
