Financial System
वित्तीय प्रणाली

The financial system is the network of institutions, markets, instruments, regulators and infrastructure that moves funds from savers to borrowers and provides payment and risk-sharing services.
Explained
Components:

- Financial markets: money market, capital market, foreign exchange market and insurance market.
- Financial instruments: deposits, loans, T-bills, bonds, shares, debentures, insurance policies, derivatives.
- Regulators: NRB (banking, payments, foreign exchange), SEBON (securities), Nepal Insurance Authority (insurance), and government bodies for cooperatives and contractual savings.
- Infrastructure: payment and settlement systems (RTGS, NCHL's ECC, IPS and connectIPS), the Credit Information Bureau, CDS and Clearing, the Deposit and Credit Guarantee Fund, and the legal framework.
Functions: mobilising savings, allocating capital, payments, risk management, price discovery, and transmitting monetary policy. In Nepal the system is bank-dominated, which is why banking stability matters so much to the economy.
