Soiled and Mutilated Notes

Soiled note management is a separate topic in the RBB syllabus and links directly to the clean note policy.

Which notes count as unfit (Unified Directive, clean note policy) Notes that are worn out, mouldy, burnt, melted, limp, insect-eaten, water-soaked, badly printed, or coloured, written, scribbled, erased or torn so that letters, numbers, pictures or security features cannot be read, and notes bearing the former king's portrait.

What a bank does with them

• Separates them from fit notes at the counter and during sorting.
• Packs them with a red slip showing branch, counter staff and date.
• Does not pay them out or use them in currency exchange.
• Sends them to its own bank account holder, to a currency chest or to NRB, depending on its access.

Customer side Customers holding damaged notes can exchange them under NRB's currency exchange rules; the value paid depends on how much of the note remains and whether its features can be identified.

झुत्रा नोट व्यवस्थापन राष्ट्रिय वाणिज्य बैंकको पाठ्यक्रममा छुट्टै विषय हो र यो सफा नोट नीतिसँग सिधै जोडिएको छ।

अयोग्य मानिने नोट (एकीकृत निर्देशन, सफा नोट नीति) झुत्रिएका, मक्किएका, जलेका, गलेका, लुला भएका, किराले खाएका, पानीले भिजेका, छपाइ बिग्रेका, वा अक्षर, अङ्क, चित्र र सुरक्षण विशेषता नबुझिने गरी रङ लागेका, लेखिएका, कोरिएका, मेटिएका वा च्यातिएका नोट र पूर्वराजाको तस्बिर अङ्कित नोट।

बैंकले के गर्छ

• काउन्टर र छनोटका क्रममा योग्य नोटबाट छुट्याउने।
• शाखा, गन्ने कर्मचारी र मिति खुलेको रातो स्लिपसहित प्याकेट बनाउने।
• भुक्तानी वा सटहीमा प्रयोग नगर्ने।
• आफ्नो पहुँच अनुसार खाता रहेको बैंक, नोटकोष वा राष्ट्र बैंकमा पठाउने।

ग्राहकतर्फ बिग्रेका नोट भएका ग्राहकले राष्ट्र बैंकको नोट सटही नियमअनुसार साट्न सक्छन्; नोटको कति भाग बाँकी छ र विशेषता पहिचान हुन्छ कि हुँदैन भन्ने आधारमा रकम दिइन्छ।
