Business Continuity Plan and Disaster RecoveryBCP/DR

Key elements: business impact analysis to rank critical functions; recovery time and recovery point objectives; a DR site in a different seismic or geographic zone with data replication; alternate branches, staff and communication plans; crisis management team; and regular testing.

NRB Directive 5, point 5 requires BFIs to:

• prepare an appropriate Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plan to ensure continuity despite various disasters;
• drill and update these plans every year;
• prepare and implement a Contingency Management Framework to reduce the adverse impact of events, including natural disasters, on business continuity of the financial system.

Nepal's earthquake risk makes BCP a frequent interview and exam topic.

निर्देशन नं. ५ को बुँदा ५ अनुसार बैंकले:

• विभिन्न प्रकोपका बाबजुद व्यवसाय निरन्तर रहने गरी उपयुक्त Disaster Recovery र Business Continuity Plan तयार गर्नुपर्छ;
• यस्ता योजना वार्षिक रूपमा अभ्यास गरी अद्यावधिक गर्नुपर्छ;
• प्राकृतिक प्रकोप लगायतका घटनाले वित्तीय प्रणालीको व्यवसाय निरन्तरतामा पार्ने असर घटाउन Contingency Management Framework तयार गरी लागू गर्नुपर्छ।
